In Paris, Lionel Kasdan, a retired BRI superintendent, is investigating a strange murder: a choirmaster has been found dead in his parish church, his eardrums destroyed, with no apparent witnesses. Meanwhile, Frank Salek, an Interpol agent threatened with dismissal by his superiors for his excessive behavior, tracks down a secret organization specializing in child kidnapping. When Salek learns of the choirmaster's death, he believes he has established a link with his own investigation and agrees to team up with Kasdan. But the further the investigation progresses, the more Salek seems to lose his footing, as if caught up in a hitherto buried secret. From then on, the two men are plunged into a case that has its roots in the darkest hours of the Second World War...
