Every winter, Rattenfänger, the master chimney sweep, recruits children in the villages of the Alps. This is the last year he'll be on the road to fulfill his dream of going to America with his assistant, Hérisson. Among the recruits, Gervais, fatherless, joins the troupe with his brother, Petit-Benoît, ready to follow in the footsteps of their deceased father. Together, they are ready to take flight.
