Pablo, a veteran of the Spanish Civil War, feels his end is approaching, so he instructs his three adopted sons from Liège to retrace his past. Their journey leads them to cross paths with some colorful characters: two manipulative old anarchists, a Guardia Civil captain as strange as he is disturbing, a former bullfighter turned bistro owner, and a commander who runs his barracks like an opera house. In the course of this adventure, Charlie, one of the brothers, falls in love with the mysterious Angela, while his two brothers discover a new meaning to their own existence.
