The eventful adventures of François, 35, nicknamed François la Poisse, and Marie, 12, known as Marie Pot de Colle. After five years at sea, François finally returns to land to find his beloved Irène, but his destiny becomes intertwined with that of Marie, a young runaway in search of a world free of deception... and an adoptive father.
