In 1948, four wealthy Belgian families sold all their possessions and boarded large ships bound for the other hemisphere, as far as Patagonia. Gabriel de Halleux was one of the patriarchs of the adventure. One after the other, Gabriel's companions eventually leave this windy, hopeless backwater. Gabriel, on the other hand, remains here with his sister, his wife and his eldest daughter. Until his death in 1988. This abundant saga tells the story of the road, the road of the explorers of the land of the living, the road that led Gabriel not only to Patagonia, but far beyond: to himself.
